OOC - application for [livejournal.com profile] planeocracy.

Player Name: Liz.
Character Name: Ambrosia Gray.
Canon: Pirates of the Caribbean, Original Character.

Background: Imagine a world where pirates are still rampant and are running from the gallows at every chance to keep the spirit of piracy alive. This is where Ambrosia was born between her father, Patrick Gray, a fearsome pirate. Her mother was Mary Gray, a wonderful woman who followed her husband through the seven seas themselves. Ambrosia herself didn't spend much time on land, rather preferring feeling the wind blow through her hair and experiencing the magic of the sea and traveled on it. Her father saw to it to teach her about how to be a pirate and put her on manning the mast, weaponry, as well as cleaning the deck before she moved up to bigger and better things on the ship, it being named the Bloody Mary after her mother. While she was learning piracy from her father, her mother sought to teach her the fundamentals - such as writing, spelling, math, and geography.

Life was good for the Gray family until her mother got gravely ill one day and she ended up dying. This caused her father to turn to the bottle more than he normally did and Ambrosia tried her best to console her father through this time. Losing her mother was a great loss to her since she did get close to her and leaned on her when she needed it. They buried her mother sometime later and tried their best to continue on. Although, another tragedy struck when her father was killed in a battle against another crew and he left her the Mary and a wooden heart he had to represent the ship itself. There was very little left of the original crew, but Ambrosia took them to Tortuga to recover as well as to find supplies. It's assumed this is where Ambrosia's drinking habit started due to the loss of her father and her mother.

But, she decided to not be too dreary for long. She went to make sure that people knew that she was a force to be reckoned with and it turned out that she was. With new energy and a new crew, she went to conquer the seas and through the crimes of kidnapping, pillaging, impersonating a noble and a nun (she liked being the noble quite a bit, mind you), murder, thievery, dishonesty, disturbing the peace, public intoxication, conspiracy, fraud and forgery, she was wanted by the Royal Navy for 60,000 guineas.

She avoided capture from the Royal Navy as much as she could, however there were times when her luck would run out and she'd find herself landed in prison with a date to the gallows. However, she managed to escape before she was hung. After this, she continued on her adventures to take as much as gold and treasure her heart desired with her crew. For Ambrosia, this was a good life to have since she lived by no one's rules but her own and would continue the legacy her father had established to her fullest potential.

Setting Information:

Earth
Pirates of the Caribbean

Ability Changes: Anyone who enters this world will find any futuristic weapons replaced by sabers, pistols, and the like. In addition to this, any magical abilities are cut down to match those in the world itself. See: Tia Dalma/Calypso.
Ability Limitations: Any magical powers do not work here (unless if you're someone like Tia Dalma/Calypso.) People who enter this world are expected to adhere to 18th century skills, such as swordfighting or gunplay. Anything else than that is nerfed.
Form Restrictions: Humans are still human, however if you're unlucky enough to land on Davy Jones' crew, you'll be shapeshifted to resemble a sea creature. Anything else than that is unknown for right now.
Social Restrictions: Men are more powerful than women are in this world. Women are treated as the "stay at home and look pretty" stigma with British mannerisms and in the case of women with disreputable trade, like pirates, they have more leeway in things, but still are disrespected by men. If you're a pirate from another world, you'll more than likely be hunted by the Royal Navy, though you are allowed to evade capture.
Notes: Warning: Pirate Speak Abound (go ahead and say "ARRRR" to your heart's content.) Warning: A Huge Sense of Adventure. Warning: Desire to have rum. Warning: Bad Fashion.
Additional Information: Beware of skull coins, men named Jack Sparrow, Barbossa, lures of treasure and a undead monkey. Any other information can be found here!

Pretty much think of the world set in 18th century Earth.

Portal Location: Captain's quarters on the Bloody Mary.

Personality: At first glance, Ambrosia seems to be nothing but an ice queen who lacks compassion and overall care of anyone besides herself. However, this behavior doesn't go to her crew. She's fiercely loyal to them and will do what's necessary to protect them and make sure they're taken care of, essentially willing to bend over backwards. She also likes to joke around with them and be affectionate and playful, almost as if they're her "family". Though, when a threat comes either Ambrosia's or her crew's way, she does what is necessary to defend the crew and herself by disposing of it. If anything disrupts the harmony, such as possible betrayal in the crew, Ambrosia will deal with it on her own terms no questions asked. She's loyal to a fault, but she's definitely no pushover when it comes down to it.

She says that her loves are the sea itself and her crew, both of which are important to her. She hasn't known anything else other than to be a pirate, and quite frankly, she's not that concerned about learning to be something else. She's happy being a pirate since it gives her freedom and a sense of adventure she otherwise would not have had before.

When it comes to interacting with others, Ambrosia will first size them up before deciding to talk with them and depending on how the conversation goes, she'll either continue it or drop it if the person has annoyed her enough or doesn't really catch her attention as much as she thought they would. Though, if they have something to contribute to the crew that either she or someone else doesn't have, then she'll consider making them a part of the crew after seeing how well they fit within the dynamic that they all have with one another. On the other hand, if it turns out that there's treasure involved or something just as interesting, she'll become very drawn in to the discussion and set forth for the treasure or what has lit the fire under her butt. It's also safe to say that the mention of treasure or a mythical object will make her determined enough to make sure that she gets it first and not anyone else.

However, even with her nearly healthy treasure hunting, it has landed her to get into conflicts with other crews as well as land her in prison. Though, in her opinion, this is just a part of a pirate's life. Conflicts will happen as well as consequences that will ultimately land her in prison, but she tries her best to make sure that she gets out alive and her crew, as well.

All in all, Ambrosia is a good pirate and one of the few that's left that hasn't been lost to the gallows or to Davy Jones' locker.

Abilities and Powers: First and foremost, Ambrosia is a pirate. This means she knows how to captain and run a ship competently. She also knows how to make sure her crew is doing okay as well as doing their jobs like they should. She's proficient with a saber and a flintlock pistol and has two sabers on her person and one pistol. With her sabers, she's skilled at swordplay and is a good shot when it comes down to it with her pistol. With her sabers, she's able to dual-wield them to be even more deadly in combat. It's also worth noting that she's ambidexterous in order to dual-wield. With this, she trains hard in order to be even more efficient in battle than she'd originally be.

To expand on her pirate abilities, she's crafty when it comes to pilfering treasures so that A) she doesn't get caught and B) she doesn't make the wrong person angry. Although, if she was to do B, she's able to think on her feet so that she comes out with her life intact as well as her crew's lives. She also can talk her way out of a pressing situation and make sure that odds work out in her favor instead of something that's greatly unneeded. In addition to this, she knows how to get out of a jail cell either by bribing the jail dog with something, sweet talking a guard or displaying her 'assets', or even jimmying the gate itself open. She'll do anything to make sure she and her crew lives, as well as protect her ship from being taken or destroyed irreparably.

She also has a high alcohol tolerance and she's no sissy there.

Reason for Joining: To have another adventure to log in her captain's log as well as perhaps find more treasure to add to her growing collection.

Position Desired: Enforcer. Why? Ambrosia has been shown to be competent enough to lead her own crew into victories both in battle as well as finding treasure. She was taught everything she knows now from her father who was also an accomplished pirate and uses those skills in every day life. She's also able to admit when she messes up, though it's to people she really trusts since she doesn't want to run the risk of her crew declaring mutiny against her. It's also worth noting that after her father's death, she decided to not drown her sorrows in alcohol, and rather, took the remaining crew and started brand new so that she could continue the legacy her father left for her.

Point in Canon: Before The Curse of the Black Pearl starts.

Notes: Show me that horizon!

Also, Ambrosia will add "love" on to a few of her sentences, drop the g from words ending in "ing", exclude the a and d from the word "and", amongst other things.

Sample Post: Here is a [livejournal.com profile] dear_mun post for her!

Education Background: Me mum taught me stuff. That counts, right?

Work Experience: I worked on me father's crew to learn what I know now 'bout bein' a pirate, which entailed scrubbin' the decks, mannin' the mast, 'n doing little tasks. Then, I graduated on to bigger things when me father decided I was ready 'n now I'm the captain of the Bloody Mary with me first mate 'n me crew.

Favorite Plant and/or Animal: Dogs. They're loyal lil' creatures.

Interview: Oh, this is gonna be fun.

What brings you to Confuto Ordinatio?: Ye brought me here through yer thingy!

What family members do you think were most influential into making you who you are today?: Me father 'n me mum. Without them, I don't think I'd be th'person I am today.

So how 'bout them Tenbraks eh? Eh? Catch the game? 52-7, I told Janice in Accounting, I said "those Balthims, they're just not up to snuff this year," but no, she said "I'll bet you 20 plat they're gonna take the banner." Take that bet I did, she still insists they'll turn it around though. Ain't that a riot?: Ye must be drinkin' the good stuff, mate. What kind of rum are ye drinkin' 'n why aren't ye sharin'?

What inspired you to apply for an Agent Position?: Mostly gunnin' for an Enforcer position here, although things like universes 'n whatnot blowin' up doesn't quite sit right with me, y'know? 'Sides, there's areas that'd go unexplored 'n treasure that wouldn't be able to be gotten if the universes were blown up.

What would you say are your greatest strengths?: Loyalty 'n compassion. When ye are travelin' the world, ye have to have it with a crew.

What would you say are your greatest weaknesses?: Rum 'n not listenin' to authority other than me own. Though, when ye are a pirate, ye gotta follow by yer own rules, lest ye get the noose.

What skills do you think you'll bring to this agency?: Captainin', swordsmanship, markmanship, stubbornness to not give up, tenacity, 'n a good time.

Tell me about some of your prior work experience.: Ye already asked me this!

How would you say your prior work experiences shaped you as a person?: Without me father teachin' me everythin' that I know, as well as livin' on the seas fer the most part, I don't think I'd be the free spirit I am today. Being a pirate is more than just havin' treasure at your fingertips - it's explorin' the world over 'n bein' under no rules other than ye own. Goin' against what society thinks is also a big part of bein' a pirate. It means ye aren't afraid of bein' yerself no matter what!

You sound like you'll be a wonderful match, but you know, rules and procedures and all that so I've got a few more questions for you.: I do get rum after this, right? Please say ye got some rum.

Do you have a history of meddling in affairs you shouldn't be meddling in?: Duh. Pirate, love. I've got a 60,000 guinea bounty on me head. I'll let that explain things fer ye.

Do you consider yourself a hero of justice?: I guess if bein' a pirate counts.

Have you ever wanted to work for something bigger than yourself?: Perhaps. It depends if the offer's enticin' enough.

Looks like I was right. You're a great fit here, glad to have you on board!: Wonderful! Now, where's the rum? This calls fer a celebration, love!
